Practicing Pedagogies

The purpose of the series is to help faculty foster a collaborative peer review approach to information literacy instruction and course development.

Presenter Information

Carol A. Daul-Elhindi has served as a librarian and associate professor at Winona State University and as the manager of reference services at Qatar National Library. In her various professional roles, she has enjoyed the teaching and mentoring opportunities most. Her personal mindfulness meditation practice has allowed her to sort through her thoughts and feelings during some of the most difficult moments of her life. Her practice then seeped into her professional life serving as a way to handle stress, model authenticity, and improve relationships in the workplace.

Dr. Omer Farooq is the Social Sciences Librarian at the University of Nebraska at Omaha's Dr. C.C. and Mabel L. Criss Library. Omer's research interests include intersection and application of cognitive and learning science in information literacy instruction. Omer holds a B.A. in psychology from The Ohio State University, M.L.I.S. in Academic Librarianship from Kent State University, and Ph.D. in Communication and Information from Kent State University. 

Kim Harp is an Education & Research Services Librarian at UNMC’s McGoogan Library of Medicine. Kim’s liaison group is to the College of Nursing. Her research interests are in information needs of clinicians and students, long-term effect of education in research skills on patient care.

Monica Maher is the Online Learning & Education Librarian and an assistant professor at the University of Nebraska at Omaha's Dr. C.C. and Mabel L. Criss Library. She creates and maintains distance learning tools related to information literacy and library resources and is the liaison to the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences, and Psychology. She received her BSED from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and her MS in Library and Information Science form the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

Tammi M. Owens (she/her) is the Outreach & Instruction Librarian and an associate professor at the University of Nebraska at Omaha's Dr. C.C. and Mabel L. Criss Library. Tammi is responsible for coordinating the first-year writing library information literacy program, leading partnerships with student learning communities, and coordinating outreach events for student stress relief and library awareness.
