The mission of the Department of Agronomy and Horticulture is to advance the knowledge, theory, and application of plant and soil sciences and landscape design to improve the quality of life for citizens of Nebraska and the world.
The Department offers the following undergraduate programs (see Undergraduate Degree Programs):
the Agronomy major, with six options (crop production, integrated crop management, business, research careers, soil science, or organic farming and food systems),
the Horticulture major, with five options (plant and landscape systems, entrepreneurship, landscape design and management, specialty crop production, or design-your-own),
the Plant Biology major, with two options (biotechnology or ecology and management),
and the Turfgrass & Landscape Management major, with two options (turfgrass management or landscape management).
There are graduate certificates available as well, including grassland management; floriculture and nursery production management; ornamentals, landscape, and turf; advanced horticulture; and plant breeding and genetics.
