Top 7 Tips for New Faculty

Tip 1: Install the Libraries’ proxy bookmarklet, which enables streamlined access to our licensed content—including millions of journal articles—wherever you are.

Tip 2: Set up your interlibrary loan and delivery account to make it easy to request resources from throughout the world—or just to have our library materials delivered to your campus building.

Tip 3: Work with our course reserves team to integrate library and other resources seamlessly into your Canvas courses. Ease the path for your students to access high-quality and reliable information and address student concerns about affordable course content.

Tip 4: Embed our tutorials in your Canvas courses, to introduce your students to foundational research and information strategies. You can also request additional tutorials to meet more specialized or advanced needs.

Tip 5: Submit your CV to our Digital Commons team, who will add your publications to our institutional repository in accordance with copyright law, making them openly available online and extending your scholarly impact and reach. UNL has the busiest institutional repository in the United States, and the third largest repository behind only Michigan and the California system.

Tip 6: Schedule appointments with our librarians. We’d love to hear more about your work and discuss how we can partner for your research and teaching success. We make it easy to schedule appointments, and we welcome conversations at all stages of idea formation.

Tip 7: Subscribe to the Libraries’ online newsletter, the UNL Libraries Buzz, to stay informed about new services, resources, and opportunities.
