Full-Text Article Access

Introduction

Article Galaxy Scholar provides UNL faculty, students, and staff the ability to request rapid delivery of articles from Springer journals. This service is available 24/7. Information about UNL Libraries decision to go out of contract with Springer is available in Nebraska Today and information about collection decisions is available on our Resources & Collections Updates Guide.

Article Galaxy Scholar (AGS) will attempt to get you access to an article in three different ways.

  • PDF copy of the article
    • If AGS has access to the article's journal, then you will receive a PDF copy of the article to download and receive it via email.
  • An open-access version of the article
    • If AGS detects that an open-access version of the article is available, you will be directed to where that is available. If the open-access copy of the article is not the version you want, AGS can still send you a PDF copy of the version of record.
  • An interlibrary loan request
    • If AGS does not have access to the article's journal, and if there are no open-access options available, then you will directed to UNL Libraries interlibrary loan Article Request form, with some fields already populated by data from AGS.

There is no limit on the number of requests for articles when using the "Get this PDF" link.

Using Article Galaxy Scholar

"Get this PDF" appears as a link when searching for articles in which the library does not have full text, much like requesting articles from Interlibrary Loan.

When you click on the "Get this PDF" link, you will be asked to log in with your UNL ID and password. If the article is available through Article Galaxy Scholar you will see and be able to select "Request PDF", otherwise you will be directed to a pre-populated Interlibrary Loan form for regular interlibrary loan processing.

  • Article Galaxy Scholar sends the article to your browser within one minute for you to view without having to go to your email to initially access the article.  The article will also be sent to your UNL email address.  Articles originally published in HTML will take longer.
  • Check your UNL email for a message from "Reprints Desk".  This email contains a link to download your article.
  • Once you are emailed your article link, you will only be able to download the article from this link five times.  We recommend saving the article to your computer or mobile device as soon as you get the article.
  • Articles are available using the provided link for 30 days to download the article.
  • If you don't receive your article in a timely manner, check your SPAM filter and add "reprintsdesk.com" to your list of permitted senders
