Citing Your Sources

APA Style & Citation Tips

Remember to cite ALL of your sources including images, audio and video.  Your class is using APA Style.  Here are some tips from OWL:

Citing Images - Pictures, Photos, Illustrations

Author (Role of Author). (Year image was created). Title of work [Type of work]

For Example:

McCurry, S. (Photographer). (1985) Afghan Girl [photo]


Citing Electronic Images

Author (Role of Author). (Year image was created). Title of work [Type of work],   Retrieved Month Day, Year, from: URL (address of web site)

For Example:

Man with colorful Hair - Paper clip holder.  Retreived August 31, 2011 from:  https://www.service-1.org/uploads/201103/15/imgs/creative-paper-clip-holder-design-1_360x600.gif


Citing Graphic Data - Maps, Graphs

Research Organization. (date) [brief explanation of data and it's form]. Project Name. Retrieval information

For Example:

United States Consumer Product Safety. (2006) [Reported safety incidents received by CPSC involving Yo-Yo Balls,
Dec 2002 – Oct 2006]. Retrieved from https://www.cpsc.gov/library/yoyoball.pdf
