University Libraries is partnering with Institutional Effectiveness and Analytics to promote the Big Ten Academic Alliance Data Viz Championship (https://btaa.org/research/love-data-week/compete). This is an opportunity for students and faculty to show their data visualization skills and compete for the title of champion.
To prepare for Love Data Week celebrations across Big Ten campuses, UNL will choose a local champion by January 24 to compete against the other BTAA champions on February 16, during Love Data Week.
For the challenge, there is a faculty/staff division and a student division, and each institution can submit one entrant in each division for the final competition. The student competition will use the Lego Brick Database and faculty/staff submissions can be any work-related visualizations that are publicly accessible. Each Big Ten institution will name one student and one faculty/staff member to compete in the final competition. Submissions are due to Jason Casey by January 24, 2024. UNL submissions will be judged by a panel of 3 UNL faculty and staff members.
To prepare for the challenge, a workshop will be offered on January 22, at 1pm, by Ryan Caldwell, Senior Associate Director, Data Management & Decision Support Analytics. “Getting Started With Tableau” is for anyone interested in learning how to use this powerful data visualization tool and will be delivered online. Registration is required. To register, visit the workshop registration page.
