The federal government offers a number of grants to nonprofit organizations, including communities and educational organizations. Although ads for free government money are common, the federal government offers grants to individuals only for very specific and limited purposes. To find out about federal assistance for small business, see the Small Business Administration website at https://www.sba.gov/
Grants.gov serves two functions. It is a searchable database of grants currently available from federal agencies and it is the required system for making federal grant applications.
Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance
The CDFA is the searchable database of all federal grant programs.
The Federal Register gives daily updates on newly proposed and approved federal grants.
Rural Health Information Hub (RHIhub)
RHIhub is an information portal to funding programs that provide health and human services to rural residents.

The Nebraska Environmental Trust
The Nebraska Environmental Trust was established in 1992 to conserve, enhance and restore the natural environments of Nebraska.
The Trust especially seeks projects that bring public and private partners together collaboratively to implement high-quality, cost-effective projects.
United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development
USDA Rural Development is committed to helping improve the economy and quality of life in rural America. They offer loans, grants and loan guarantees to help create jobs and support economic development and essential services such as housing, health care, first responder services and equipment, and water, electric and communications infrastructure.
They also promote economic development by supporting loans to businesses through banks, credit unions and community-managed lending pools.

Unfortunately, library staff are not able to help with the preparation of proposals. While we cannot refer people to grant writers, the Grant Professionals Association maintains a list of local freelancers which is available free of charge.
