U.S. Federal Government Information

A guide to information produced by the U.S. Congress and other legislative branch offices

Where to Look

Many federal government documents have changed in recent years to an online-only publication format, and are easily accessible through a simple Internet search or through the GovInfo site. However, documents published before the mid-1990s may be more difficult to locate, even in print, because the quality of indexes has historically been poor.   The following is a list of the most commonly used and accessed resources used in finding U.S. Federal Documents.   SuDoc numbers are given to aid in locating materials.

For additional sources and categorization, see the additional tabs on this LibGuide for the individual branches of government and for subject focus.
