Brave New Matter for a Brave New World: Shapeshifting & Invisibility

Speaker: Jocelyn Bosley, University of Nebraska-Lincoln

When: 7:00pm February 3, 2016

Location: Adele Hall Learning Commons

Description: Cutting-edge physics research has produced technologies that reinvent matter itself -- and matter capable of reinventing itself. Shapeshifting, invisibility, and other science fiction tropes are becoming increasingly possible, even essential, as we enter a new era of "programmable matter."  From metamaterials to claytronics to synthetic biology, this is not your mama's matter.
