Create Your RefWorks Account

Before you use RefWorks, create an account.

  1. Go to the Login page  https://libraries.unl.edu/citation-tools
  2. Select Sign up for a New Account
  3. Enter your information
  4. Click Create Account

Exporting from Other Databases

Many databases allow you to export directly from the search results into RefWorks.  Look for the RefWorks Icon, or under the "Saved Records" or "Export" links.  In other databases, you'll need to save your citations in a text file, then import them into RefWorks.  We provide instructions on using RefWorks with most of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Libraries' databases.

Already Have a Reference?

If you already have a reference, you can add it into RefWorks manually.  From Within RefWorks:

Go to References (button upper middle)

Click on Add New

Use View Fields Used By drop down to select citation style

Select folder at Add to Folder

Use Ref Type to choose the type of citation

Enter your citation information

Save Reference (bottom)

To add an attachement (PDF of the article, etc.), Browse, upload then click Add Attachment
