Patents and Trademarks: Resources for inventors

The USPTO recommends the use of a patent attorney to assist with filing a patent application but they do, however, offer the Pro Se Assistance Program to assist inventors who do not have the resources to hire a patent attorney. Information about the program is available at the USPTO page.

Here is also a program which provides qualified inventors a Pro Bono program which provides assistance with the patent process. The program for Nebraska is administered out of St. Louis, MO. Information, including links to the application, is available at this webpage.
