UNL authors whose articles are accepted on or after January 1, 2023 for publication in Institute of Physics (IOP) Publishing journals can have their work published Open Access (OA) at no cost to themselves. The associated charges (known as Article Processing Charges, or APCs) are covered by the Libraries.
The agreement covers research papers, letters, reviews and special issue articles published in all journals listed on IOP's Eligible Journals for Transformative Agreements page (lists A,B,C, and D); corresponding authors must be affiliated with UNL in order for the article to be eligible for the APC waiver. The corresponding author should ensure that they specify UNL as their institution during the article submission process, in order to be identified as eligible by IOP's systems. During the article submission process, authors should choose "Yes" when presented with the option to publish Open Access; information about payment of APCs (intended for authors not eligible under OA agreements) can be ignored. Corresponding authors of articles identified as eligible for the APC waiver will be notified by IOP via email during the peer-review process, or shortly after acceptance.
Eligible articles will be published Open Access under a CC-BY license, with the author retaining copyright. In order to not publish the article OA, authors must explicitly opt out during the submission process by choosing "No" as the Open Access option.
For a complete description of the steps involved for authors, see IOP Publishing’s Guide to submitting under a transformative agreement page. For more information, contact David Macaulay at UNL Libraries.
