Open Access Publishing Agreements at UNL Libraries

The Company of Biologists: "Read and Publish" Agreement

UNL authors whose articles are accepted for publication in The Company of Biologists' journals after January 1, 2022 can have their work published Open Access (OA) at no cost to themselves. The associated charges (known as Article Processing Charges, or APCs) are covered by the Libraries. The journals included by this agreement are:

Corresponding authors must be affiliated with UNL in order to be eligible for the APC waiver. They should specify their UNL email address and the full UNL mailing address when submitting their articles, to ensure that the publisher’s editorial management system identifies them correctly for application of the waiver. In the case of "hybrid" journals offering both OA and non-OA publication options, authors will be presented with the choice of publishing OA or not. Open Access articles are published in The Company of Biologists' journals under a Creative Commons CC-BY license, with the author retaining copyright.

For a description of the steps involved for authors, see The Company of Biologists’ Guide for corresponding authors page. For more information, contact David Macaulay at UNL Libraries.
