UNL authors whose articles are accepted on or after January 1, 2022 for publication in The Company of Biologists' journals can have their work published Open Access (OA) at no cost to themselves. The associated charges (known as Article Processing Charges, or APCs) are covered by the Libraries. The journals included by this agreement are:
Corresponding authors must be affiliated with UNL in order to be eligible for the APC waiver. They should specify their UNL email address and the full UNL mailing address when submitting their articles, to ensure that the publisher’s editorial management system identifies them correctly for application of the waiver. In the case of "hybrid" journals offering both OA and non-OA publication options, authors will be presented with the choice of publishing OA or not. Open Access articles are published in The Company of Biologists' journals under a Creative Commons CC-BY license, with the author retaining copyright.
