University of Nebraska authors whose articles are accepted on or after January 1, 2025 for publication in Royal Society of Chemistry journals can have their work published Open Access (OA) at no cost to themselves. The associated charges (known as Article Processing Charges, or APCs) are covered by UNL Libraries.
Corresponding authors must be affiliated with a University of Nebraska institution (UNL, UNK, UNMC, UNO) in order to be eligible for the APC waiver. They should specify their University of Nebraska email address when submitting their articles, both in the article itself and on the submission form, to ensure that the publisher’s editorial management system identifies them correctly for application of the waiver. In the case of "hybrid" journals offering both OA and non-OA publication options, authors will be presented with the choice of publishing OA or not. Authors publishing OA can choose between Creative Commons CC-BY or CC BY-NC licenses, with the author retaining copyright.
For a description of the steps involved for authors, see Royal Society of Chemistry’s Guide to Article Licensing as a Read & Publish Author (PDF file, linked below). For more information, contact David Macaulay at UNL Libraries.
