University of Nebraska authors whose articles are accepted for publication in Elsevier journals on or after September 18, 2023 may be eligible for a 10% discount on the Article Processing Charge (APC) for publishing their work Open Access (OA). The discount applies to articles published by University of Nebraska corresponding authors in the majority of Elsevier's "hybrid" journals (journals publishing both subscription and OA content). See below for a list of eligible titles, as of September 2023.
Corresponding authors should specify the University of Nebraska institution with which they are affiliated when submitting their article. When the article is accepted for publication, the acceptance notification email will contain a link to Elsevier's editorial management system for completion of the "publishing journey". In the "Rights and Access" step, the author must choose a University of Nebraska institutional affiliation in order to apply the APC discount. There is the option to publish either under the subscription (paywalled) model, at no charge, or Open Access, with the payment of an APC. Authors choosing the Open Access option can publish under a CC-BY or CC-BY-NC-ND Creative Commons license, with the authors retaining copyright; they will be shown the discounted APC price, and be invoiced for this amount once their affiliation has been validated.
For more information about the APC payment process, see Elsevier's "Publishing Journey" help page, under "Gold Open Access: Discount Agreement".
