The Atomic Energy Commission(AEC) was created in 1946 to manage Federal projects, facilities, and programs related to nuclear weapons and nuclear power. In 1977, Federal projects, facilities, and programs related to energy were transferred to a new Department of Energy (DOE). The DOE supplanted the AEC and had a much broader mandate. Since the beginning of the US atomic program Federal laboratories, offices, and contractors have created a large number of reports. Those reports cover a wide range of topics including biological sciences, geosciences, engineering, mathematics, and much more.
The DOE is making an effort to make reports available online. Many AEC/DOE technical reports are listed in the Database SciTech Connect . Reports which are available in full text are linked from the records in SciTech Connect.
For more information on finding out about and obtaining AEC/DOE technical reports, see the Library Guide on Energy Related Technical Reports.
