Title:  Elements in the Harry Potter World

Speaker:  Rebecca Lai

Location: Love Library South 221 (Peterson Room)

Description: This presentation will cover various elements in our world that are also in Harry Potter's world, including gold (Au), silver (Ag), mercury (Hg), aluminum (Al), and silicon (Si). The focus will be on the use of these elements in the wizarding world when compared to our world.

Rebecca LaiDr. Lai received her B.S. degree in Biochemistry from California State University, Los Angeles and her Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Texas at Austin. She was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of California, Santa Barbara. She is currently an Associate Professor of Chemistry at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Her research focuses on developing biosensors for real world applications, and she is known for creating  a "Harry Potter x Science" education and outreach program.
