Finding Technicall Reports (Arthur Lakes College)

The following is a list of the most commonly accessed indexes to locate technical reports and each has it's own search features. There may be other sources which better fit your research focus. For assistance please contact the Engineering Librarian.

Atomic Energy Commission - Department of Energy
The Atomic Energy Commission (AEC) was created in 1946 to manage Federal projects, facilities, and programs related to nuclear weapons and nuclear power. In 1977, Federal projects, facilities, and programs related to energy were transferred to a new Department of Energy (DOE). The DOE supplanted the AEC and had a much broader mandate. Since the beginning of the US atomic program Federal laboratories, offices, and contractors have created a large number of reports. Those reports cover a wide range of topics including biological sciences, geosciences, engineering, mathematics, and much more.
Catalog of U.S. Government Publications (CGP)
The CGP is the finding tool for federal publications that includes descriptive information for historical and current publications as well as direct links to the full document, when available. Users can search by authoring agency, title, subject, and general keywords, etc.
Defense Technical Information Center
DTIC is a central resource for DoD and government-funded scientific, technical, engineering, and business related information. Search Technical Reports and find bibliographic citations or full text reports.

EPA Environmental Management Collection of Methods
EPA offices and laboratories, and outside organizations, have developed approved methods for measuring the concentration of a substance or pollutant.
EPA National Service Center for Environmental Publications
EPA's central repository of all EPA documents with over 7,000 titles available in paper or electronic form.
NASA Technical Reports Server (NTRS)
NASA Technical Reports Server (NTRS) provides access to over 500,000 aerospace-related citations, over 300,000 full-text online documents, and over 500,000 images and videos. The types of information include: conference papers, journal articles, meeting papers, patents, research reports, images, movies, and technical videos – scientific and technical information (STI) created or funded by NASA. The databases includes NACA, NASA and NIX collections.
National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA)
Provided by the University of North Texas. Access to aeronautical research prior to transfer to NASA in 1958.
National Technical Information Service
The National Technical Information Service serves as the largest central resource for government-funded scientific, technical, engineering, and business related information. See the NTRL Database for access to full text technical reports and bibliographic records for technical reports.

NTRL provides access to government-sponsored research, development and technical reports with full-text access to reports that have been digitized. Searches over 3 million reports with links to over 800,000 full-text reports. 1964 to present

The Technical Report Archive & Image Library (TRAIL) identifies, acquires, catalogs, digitizes and provides unrestricted access to U.S. government agency technical reports.
USAID Development Experience Clearinghouse
Search the U.S. Agency for International Development clearinghouse for U.S. international aid project reports. Most are available as PDF files. Historical project reports and descriptions are included in a separate file.
