Over 1000 foundations offer fellowships. Applying to multiple foundations increases your chances of funding.
Start early. Foundation fiscal years and application review dates vary.
Grantmakers who wish to attract applicants with specific projects or interests often publish requests for proposals (RFPs) in Philanthropy News Digest. Go to https://foundationcenter.org/pnd/rfp/. To limit the listing to fellowships, use the search box in the upper right. RSS feeds and e-newsletters are also available.
Search the Foundation Center database Foundation Grants to Individuals (FGTI) to find fellowships and scholarships, often called educational grants.
To find the foundations most likely to fund you, match your qualifications and needs to foundations' criteria.
FGTI is available free at Love Library.
FGTI monthly subscriptions are available for $19.95. Go to https://subscribe2.foundationcenter.org/gti/signup/
