What is your ideal study space? What features and technology are important to you?
Do you seek space that's noisy or quiet? Group or solitary? Bright or dim?
Do you like to be alone-alone? Or alone-with others nearby?
Are certain colors or types of furniture important?
Do you use library computers or bring your own?
What kind of technology would you like the library to provide?
Thanks so much for your comments on the sample furniture for the new Mezzanine Study Room!
Here's a summary: You want furniture that's soft, serious, sturdy, studious, and sophisticated.
Based on that, more samples will be placed in the Link in the next couple of weeks. Test them and tell us what you think!
Thank you very much for filling out polls and writing on the Talk Zone whiteboards.
The number one request for the Talk Zone is: vending machines
We've tried our best to accomplish this but load bearing and wiring requirements are working against us. For now, we've put it on the back burner.
The second most common request for the Talk Zone: tables for group work and board games
We've moved one larger table in already and will have at least one additional one. Board games are now available in the Talk Zone. More board games can be checked out from Media Services.
We asked: In early summer we asked students for color and furniture recommendations for a new group study room.
You talked: Forty students responded. The results showed a clear preference for black and red club chairs.
We listened: We bought four comfortable club chairs with a black suede-like finish, a red ottoman, and complementary study tables and chairs. With the large touch screen and PC, it's a great place to watch videos, video-conference, or work on group projects. Find out more about private study spaces at http://libraries.unl.edu/studyrooms
